24 Young Missionaries Return Renewed and Empowered
With hearts full of gratitude, the Jesus Youth movement joyfully announces the successful completion of CHALO Nepal 2025, the 17th edition of this dynamic missionary initiative. Held from 6th to 17th June, the program brought together 24 young missionaries who were formed, sent, and transformed through an inspiring journey of retreat, training, and field mission.
The experience began with a time of spiritual preparation and leadership training at Loyola Pastoral Centre, Siliguri from June 6 to 10. Following this, the participants were sent forth into various mission areas in Nepal, where they served with faith, enthusiasm, and love. The program officially concluded on 16th June, and the young missionaries returned home on 17th June, renewed in spirit and filled with a fresh zeal to live their missionary call in daily life.
A special highlight of this year’s CHALO was the anointing ceremony and commissioning, led by His Excellency Bishop Paul Simick of Bagdogra, who celebrated Holy Mass and offered his blessing as the team embarked on their mission. His gracious presence and words of encouragement deeply inspired the participants.
The success of CHALO Nepal was made possible through the collective effort and support of many individuals and communities. Regional leaders and coordinators worked tirelessly to facilitate participation and logistics. The intercession of prayer partners upheld the mission spiritually over the months. Parents and guardians showed immense trust by sending their children on this journey. Numerous benefactors generously supported the initiative financially. The religious communities in both Nepal and Siliguri extended hospitality, care, and support that went beyond expectations. The National Council and National Mission Team provided constant guidance and encouragement. A special word of appreciation goes to the dedicated training team, resource persons, and the animating presence of Sr. Sandhya and Fr. Joby, who accompanied the young missionaries with selfless dedication.
Even as the program has concluded, the young missionaries continue to reflect on their experiences—recalling moments of prayer, community, and joyful witness. Their time in Nepal has left a lasting impact, and they return with hearts set on fire for Christ, ready to be missionaries in their own homes, schools, and communities.
Let us continue to lift them and their families in prayer, that their lives may shine with the light of Christ wherever they go.
