The African Mission Team of Jesus Youth continues to make significant strides, with its most recent outreach marking a historic moment in Nigeria. A pivotal mission phase was conducted in the Diocese of Katsina, led by Raiju Varghese, Fr. Vincy Sebastian, and Fr. Tony George, in collaboration with the Africa Mission Coordination Team.
Two impactful formation programs were held during this visit:
Priests and Animators Training
???? Date: June 3, 2025
???? Participants: 21 priests
???? Theme: Shepherding the Youth – A Journey into the Jesus Youth
This one-day session focused on introducing clergy to the vision and pastoral approach of the Jesus Youth movement, highlighting their vital role in guiding young people in faith and mission.

Youth Leadership Training
???? Date: June 4–8, 2025
???? Participants: 21 youth leaders
???? Theme: Called, Formed, Sent – Jesus Youth Leadership Encounter
This five-day training equipped emerging youth leaders with practical skills, spiritual formation, and a deeper understanding of the Jesus Youth lifestyle.
These sessions not only provided structured formation but also laid a solid foundation for sustained growth. The most significant outcome was the formation of the first diocesan Jesus Youth team in Nigeria, specifically for the Katsina Diocese.
Fr. Tony George will continue as the primary contact for the Nigeria mission and, in collaboration with the African Mission Team, will spearhead the development of new leadership teams and further training initiatives in the region.
Planned follow-ups and future visits will ensure the steady growth and nurturing of this budding mission. We thank all our partners and friends for your prayers and continued support as we walk together in this exciting journey of evangelization in Africa.
