Pentecost Sunday
Across continents and cultures, Jesus Youth communities gathered in prayer, celebration, and joyful recommitment as the movement observed its annual Jesus Youth Recommitment Day. Marking the feast of Pentecost, this significant occasion was a grace-filled moment for members to renew their baptismal identity and reaffirm their commitment to the mission and lifestyle of Jesus Youth.
The day began with praise and worship, and a deep reflection on the Word – “He will teach you all things…” (John 14:26). Participants entered into a profound experience of the renewal of baptismal promises, prayer for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and a heartfelt consecration to the Holy Spirit.
A key highlight of the day was the Renewal of Commitment Ceremony, during which committed members solemnly renewed their pledge to live the Jesus Youth lifestyle with greater fervour. Others in the movement were also invited to take a personal pledge affirming their desire to journey in faith with the movement.
This year’s recommitment day witnessed celebrations in cities across the globe — from prayerful gatherings in India, Europe, and the Middle East to dynamic youth-led liturgies in the Americas, Africa, Oceania and Asia-Pacific regions. The day concluded with a time of intercession and joyful thanksgiving, underlining the theme of unity, mission, and the power of the Holy Spirit.
As one global family, we give thanks to the Lord for renewing His Spirit in our lives and sending us forth once again as missionary disciples.
Mary, Queen of Apostles, and St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us.
