In a powerful demonstration of the impact of targeted educational support, project Outreach – Child Support has enabled 621 students to successfully complete significant academic milestones in 2025. By providing monthly financial assistance to children from low-income families, the initiative ensures that these students can continue their education without interruption.
Currently supporting 2,534 students from LKG to Class XII across 18 Indian states, the project offers more than just aid—it offers hope. This year alone, 293 students completed their higher secondary education, while 328 passed their lower secondary levels with commendable results.
Founded in the wake of national tragedies such as the Gujarat earthquake (2001) and the Indian Ocean tsunami (2004), project Outreach – Child Support was launched in 2008, born out of the compassion of young Jesus Youth professionals committed to social justice. Through meticulous case-by-case verification of beneficiaries, the initiative ensures that support reaches the most deserving—irrespective of caste or creed.
In addition to providing financial assistance, the project seeks to accompany students in their holistic development—nurturing them spiritually and guiding them toward higher education. It also supports highly competent candidates in securing meaningful employment, enabling them to become strong pillars of their families and communities.
Beyond the classroom, the same spirit of compassion and action has driven several humanitarian interventions. During the devastating 2018 floods in Kerala, a new initiative called Nalla Ayalkaran (“The Good Neighbour”) was launched. It played a critical role in rescue and relief operations not only during the 2018 floods but also in 2019, working in close collaboration with government agencies and civil society organizations. Volunteers were trained in disaster response, coordinated relief camps, and reached remote, cut-off areas with essential supplies.
After the immediate crisis passed, efforts shifted toward long-term recovery—supporting house construction and helping families rebuild their lives. The work expanded beyond Kerala, with interventions in flood-affected regions of Assam in partnership with Bosco Reach Out in Guwahati. Medical professionals joined in, offering healthcare services in camps and donating vital supplies.
The commitment continued during the COVID-19 pandemic, as the team provided food kits, facilitated access to digital devices for students, organized webinars on sustainable farming, and assisted hospitals and burial services for COVID-affected individuals. Financial aid was extended to struggling families, and during the Manipur riots, clothing and basic necessities were distributed to those in crisis.
In response to the floods and landslides that occurred last year in Wayanad, Kerala, volunteers were actively involved in relief efforts. Operating across four camps, the team provided essential material assistance, emotional support, and collaborated closely with the district administration to ensure an effective and coordinated response.
“Our mission is to empower the child, strengthen the family, and uplift the society,” said a representative of the initiative. “Whether through education or emergency relief, we believe in standing with the vulnerable.”
With a strong volunteer base and a vision grounded in compassion and accountability, project Outreach – Child Support, along with initiatives like Nalla Ayalkaran, continues to light the path of hope and healing for communities across India.
